Why Should You Have Jewelry Appraised?
There are multiple reasons for appraisals. The most common is for Insurance Replacement Value. Expert evaluation of your diamonds and jewelry are necessary for specialized Insurance on fine jewelry.
It is also a good idea and a requirement of many insurance companies to have a jewelry appraisal done every few years since the price of diamonds and precious metals change. If an item is lost or stolen, a jewelry appraisal is the basis by which the insurance company will replace the item according to the terms of your contract with them. It provides a standard by which you can receive replacement of like kind or the value thereof.
